With access to professional makeup artists and costume designers, celebrities have always won the Halloween game. According to Elle Magazine, Halloween 2016 officially began on Oct. 14 when Kylie Jenner debuted the first costume of the year. The 19-year-old celebrity snapchatted a picture of herself in a skeleton onesie.

Sarah Kay and Andrea Gibson, with surprise guest Mary Lambert, performed spoken word for a packed theater at the Academy of Music in Northampton on Wednesday. The performance was part of a week-long tour that began in Ithaca, New York and ends in Providence, Rhode Island.

Lipstick Thespians wows audience with skits and songs

The student-run revue, Lipstick Thespians, performed in Rooke Theatre during Family & Friends Weekend on Oct. 21. Produced by Molly Paige ’18 and stage managed by Achaetey Kabal ’17, the show featured a series of unconnected sketches and songs, ranging from serious to comical.

In her weekly radio show, “On This Day,” WMHC DJ Kate Hall ’19 takes listeners back in time, recounting major events (musical and otherwise) that happened on that date. Hall also serves as WMHC’s Specialty Program Director and hosts ‘Live @ 5!’ in the hour before her own show, which airs Saturdays from 6-8 p.m.

Project Trio delights with semi-improvisational set

Project Trio, the “high-energy chamber music” ensemble, received a standing ovation after a McCulloch Auditorium performance on Friday evening. Associate Professor of Flute Adrianne Greenbaum, a close friend of the three musicians, introduced them as the lights dimmed. “You’re going to have a constant smile on your face,” she told the audience.

The Conscious Poets Society hosts Five College Poetry Slam

The Conscious Poets Society organized their third annual Five College Poetry Slam on April 9, the Saturday of Mount Holyoke’s admitted students weekend. Chapin Auditorium was lightly packed with a crowd of both admitted and five-college students. Fourteen five-college student poets competed in three rounds.
