Sapien Joyride, Pulse, Stoplight Makeout perform at Chapin Auditorium

As the doors of Chapin Auditorium opened on Sept. 28, a small crowd gathered at the foot of the stairs. It was the first show of the semester put on by Mount Holyoke College Students for Alternative Music, also known as MHC Alt, a student group who organizes concerts on campus. The show was free and open to the public, and though the crowd was primarily made up of Mount Holyoke College students, there were several people from the wider area in attendance as well.

Michelle Zauner has been busy, but she still has time to make bangers

Michelle Zauner, better known by her stage name, Japanese Breakfast, has had a busy spring. Her memoir, “Crying in H Mart,” was released in April and reached number two on The New York Times Best Sellers list. Zauner then released the third Japanese Breakfast studio album, entitled “Jubilee,” in early June. Both the memoir and album have defined my June: the book’s jacket is still filled with sand from a trip to the beach, and I have particularly enjoyed playing “Jubilee” in the car with the windows down.

Their albums earned regular spots in my CD rotation and YouTube history — I loved that every song created an atmosphere, told a story and was infinitely listenable.
