Student group Gender + hopes to create safe space for trans students

Although there are several resources and spaces available on campus for transgender, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming students, none have previously been led by students themselves. Gender +, an organization reinstated this year, aims to change this by creating a safe space for trans students to gather and meet one another.

Every Friday, Martin Wilson makes the hours-long commute from his home in New York City to the gates of Mount Holyoke College, where he teaches a class called Young Adult Fiction Writing. Wilson, a visiting lecturer in his first semester at Mount Holyoke, is aiming to cultivate an environment in which all stories can be told. Come rain or shine, Shattuck Hall is constantly buzzing with the clamor of creative minds at work.

Open Call Magazine announces “quarantine issue” for second publication

Mount Holyoke’s student-run art and literary magazine, Open Call, is taking advantage of the current circumstances of the Coronavirus crisis and the creative output it will inspire, putting together what they call a “quarantine issue” for their sophomore publication.
