Naomi Goldberg ’04 shares insights about advancing LGBTQ+ equity

As it rained outside, students made their way to the Cassani Room in Shattuck Hall for a conversation with Naomi Goldberg ’04 about LGBTQ+ equity. Hosted by the Weismann Center for Leadership on Sept. 30, attendees sat in a circle snacking on muffins, fruit and yogurt as Goldberg discussed her educational and career journey.

During the later months of the fall 2021 semester, the Mount Holyoke Dining Commons will begin implementing a solution to the challenge of maintaining the flexibility of takeout options without creating excessive waste. Starting soon, students will be able to take their meals to-go using returnable, reusable takeout containers. This program will allow students to keep the takeout option while also reducing waste. Currently, the Dining Commons is providing single-use compostable containers for students to use, both for eating in and takeout.

“What does it mean to be whole,” Q. Hailey ’12 asked herself. “How do we find wholeness in this period?”

These are some of the questions Hailey contemplated when deciding what topics to discuss in her series, Womanist Worship Sunday Exploring Wholeness. Each month has a separate topic revolving around self-care. In March, Hailey will focus on wellness dealing with personal, financial, family and other struggles.

Mount Holyoke College Introduces the Gates: A Virtual Platform for Community Members To Connect and Network

The Mount Holyoke College Career Development Center recently added a new resource for students to make online connections within the alumni network: The Gates.

Associate Director of Digital Engagement of the Alumnae Association Danielle Lund described The Gates as “an online platform … [and] a virtual common space where alums and students can come together and connect.” Within The Gates, students can search for alums to connect with and filter by industry, location, major and other categories, including campus involvement, primary reunion class, whether or not the alum is a first-generation college student and more.
