On Saturday, Nov. 28, an unknown driver crashed into the basement of the Asian Center for Empowerment on the Mount Holyoke campus. The College notified community members of the accident in an email from the Office of Communications on Sunday, Nov. 29.
The basement of the ACE House was empty at the time of the crash, and the car’s only occupant was its driver. The College’s statement contained no information about the driver’s condition or any circumstances that precipitated the crash. “We are saddened by the damage to the ACE, as it serves as an important space for support, education, and community for our students within the Asian diaspora, and has since 1998,” the statement said.
The College has stated that it is cooperating with the South Hadley police department in their investigation into the incident.
