The College announced Monday that it will hold a virtual commencement ceremony for graduates of the class of 2021 on May 23 at 10:30 a.m. EST.  In an email sent to graduating students and their families, Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students Marcella Runell Hall wrote, “It is with great regret that we announce that no family, friends or other guests will be able to participate in any campus celebrations in advance of the virtual ceremony.”

The email went on to explain that “some celebrations and traditions that recognize the graduating class will take place between May 12 and May 15.” This will include stoling ceremonies for first-generation and low-income students, students of color and those within the LGBTQ+ community. These events will be open to students living on- and off-campus. For those currently residing on campus, the move-out deadline will be extended until Sunday, May 16.

No graduating students will be permitted to physically be on campus during the virtual graduation ceremony on May 23.

Additional information regarding the College’s 184th Commencement will be announced later this month, according to the email. “As always, our primary concern is for the health and safety of all members of our community,” Hall wrote. “Thank you for your patience as we continue to develop plans in the context of the public health situation.”
