Mount Holyoke College Lacrosse traveled east on Saturday, April 20, to face Wellesley College for a competitive matchup that ultimately ended in a 19-11 loss for the Lyons.
After Wellesley took an early lead in the first quarter, Mount Holyoke quickly responded with a goal from Hannah Bisson ’24, assisted by Marielle Welch ’26. Later in the quarter, Mackenzie Hillman ’27 scored to extend their scoring streak to four games with another goal for the Lyons. The quarter eventually ended with Wellesley leading 5-3, with Mount Holyoke ready to bounce back.
The Lyons were close to catching up to Wellesley in the second quarter, with Emi Bisson ’26 immediately scoring to make it 5-4, but were unable to add on, getting outscored 6-2 in both the second and third quarters.
Mount Holyoke attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, with Hannah Bisson contributing three free position goals and later scoring a fourth, assisted by Emi Bisson. Despite the Lyons’ late-game efforts, they took the loss as they could not tighten the scoring gap any further.
On top of Hannah Bisson’s goal in the first quarter and a four-goal final quarter, two more goals scored in the first and second quarters gave the Lyon a career-high seven goals in ten attempts. Ella Phillips ’25 also contributed, scoring both goals for Mount Holyoke in the third quarter.
Mount Holyoke Lacrosse is set to play their final game of the season on Wednesday, April 24, at home against Springfield College.
