Mount Holyoke Riding takes first place with 45 points at home show

The Mount Holyoke Riding team hosted the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Springfield College, Bentley College, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Smith College, Amherst College, Worcester State and Bennington College during the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Mount Holyoke College Show on Saturday, March 2. The Lyons placed first at their home show with 45 points, with UMass Amherst coming in second with 39 points.

Mount Holyoke Lacrosse opens 2024 season against Simmons University

The Mount Holyoke College Lacrosse Team officially kick-started their season with a home game against Simmons University on Feb. 24. Linnea Alsted ’27, Teya Broad-Wright ’27, Mackenzie Hillman ’27 and Syd Baker ’27 made their collegiate lacrosse debut with the season opener. Mount Holyoke started with a 3-1 lead at the beginning of the second quarter, but ultimately, Simmons caught up and prevailed with a final score of 17-4.

Mount Holyoke College Track & Field finished in a close 2nd at their last indoor meet of the season, which took place at Smith College on Saturday, Feb. 17. With 56 points, they beat out Smith’s 54.5 points and narrowly missed Wellesley College's 56.5 points.

The Lyonfish Artistic Swimming Club team performed their second-ever showcase, “Synchro-RISE,” on Dec. 9 at the Mount Holyoke College Kendall Sports and Dance Complex Natatorium. Now, thanks to companies like NOCAP Sports, that fight to be compensated for the right of publicity is over. Student-athletes across divisions will be able to benefit from the use of their name, image and likeness, rights defined as NIL by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Cheering them on in the stands were entrants of the team’s Halloween costume contest, which gave out prizes for both individual and group costumes.

Mount Holyoke Squash welcomes new head coach Lauren Xaba

The Mount Holyoke College Squash team has welcomed a new head coach this year.

Lauren Xaba replaced former coach Erin Robson, who had held the role since the 2012-13 season. A Philadelphia native and University of Pennsylvania alum, Xaba has returned to coaching squash and to become a part of the Mount Holyoke community.
